THANK A SOLDIER:There is that bumper sticker that says, "If you can read this...thank a teacher. If you can read it in English...thank a soldier." Many of you agree with this sentiment I would venture to guess. Have you ever done it? Have you ever gone up to a soldier and said, "Thank you" to him/her? I'm not talking about someone you know that is in the military. I'm not talking about waving and saying, "Thank you" as a soldier drives by in a parade. Have you ever gone up to a complete stranger, who is obviously in the military, and said, "Thank you" to him?I have. I try to do it as often as possible. Honestly, the first time I was about to do it...I felt stupid. It was a heart felt thank you, but I was embarrassed to go up to a complete stranger. That was until I did it. I believe my exact words were, "Thank you for all you do for this country." Simple. Straight-forward. The reply came, "I'm just doing my job, Sir." But then there was that hint of a smile from him. The kind that made me believe what I said meant more to that soldier than I thought. It made me wonder if anyone had ever thanked him before. I didn't ask though. I just went about my business. It felt good. It felt good because I thought that I made him feel appreciated.The next time it wasn't as hard. The reply this time was, "You're welcome, Sir." Again, there was that look. That look like maybe he had never been told thank you before. Again, it was a great feeling, but almost a disturbing one at the same time. I started wondering even more....had no one ever said thank you to these soldiers?The third time was an older gentleman selling the little flowers for the VFW I think. This time I said, "Thank you for all you did for this country." He got visibly upset....not mad....but he was shaking a little bit. I felt horrible. Did I insult him by thanking him I was thinking. I didn't know what to do. I froze up. The older gentleman stood up and said to me, "Young man. No one has ever thanked me for my service. When you said, 'Thank you' to me, it was like a release." I couldn't believe it. I would guess the man was in his 70's and somehow, no one ever thanked him for his brave service to this nation. I was shocked to the point that I didn't know what to say or do. I smiled and continued walking out to my car.I have said, "Thank you" in one form or another many, many times now. I very often get what I now call "The Look" when I thank them. I have since asked many of them if they have ever been thanked. Most reply, "No, but it is my honor to serve this nation" or something very similar. No ego. No attitude. Just pure PRIDE.These courageous men and women are willing to put their lives on the line for us and for our country. They do so with honor and with pride. They don't do it so that they can hear, "Thank you" from us. That doesn't mean we don't owe them a great big "Thank you." My gosh, it is the very least we can do. Try it. Next time you see a man or woman in uniform, walk up to them and just say, "Thank you." or "Thank you for all you do for this country" or one of my favorites "Thank you for protecting my family." I guarantee you will get "The Look" more often than you won't. I don't care if you are shy. I don't care if you feel stupid. Do it anyway. Believe me, it is worth it. Let them all know they have our support, our love and our admiration

And just a quick side note, I use the term "Soldier." I am aware that different branches of the military call themselves different names....soldiers, marines, sailors, etc. My use of the term "soldier" is meant to encompass all of our armed forces.

Have you read about Chairman Maobama's "National Service Plan," which he proposed because, in his words, "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded [as the military]"? This is his version of Bill Clinton's AmeriCorps, and it is an Orwellian plan to employ legions of his sycophants in the service of his administration. He proposes spending more on this "plan" than our current budget for national defense.

For the first time in American political history there is a OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT-ELECT. Dear Leader Chairman Maobama is wasting no time. The following is from CHANGE.GOV / America Serves -- B.O.s official web site.
"When you choose to serve -- whether it's your nation, your community or simply your neighborhood -- you are connected to that fundamental American ideal that we want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not just for ourselves, but for all Americans. That's why it's called the American dream."
The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year. Obama will encourage retiring Americans to serve by improving programs available for individuals over age 55, while at the same time promoting youth programs such as Youth Build and Head Start .

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Regarding constitutional liberty , Chairman Maobama has twice taken an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" and to "bear true faith and allegiance to the same."
He does not honor that oath because he subscribes to the errant notion of a "Living Constitution" which, in his own words, "breaks free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution."
Clearly, as the next commander in chief, he has no intention of honoring his presidential oath to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States," but I suspect most of our uniformed Patriots will.
Chairman Maobama's executive, legislative and judicial agendas pose a greater threat to American liberty than that of any president in the history of our great republic. He'll likely appoint two or even three left-wing jurists to the High Court in his first (and I hope only) term.
Expect a concerted effort by the executive, legislative and judicial branches to undermine the First, Second and Tenth Amendment rights of citizens, and restrictions on the central government.
However, Chairman Maobama and his radical Leftists should not underestimate the concern tens of millions of my fellow Patriots share about the assault on our Constitution that will ensue on 20 January 2009. When the next administration commences to trample on our Constitution -- and they will -- they risk the potential of civil disobedience at least equal in proportion to the degree of constitutional violation.
Thomas Jefferson insisted, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Could Americans take up arms against each other, Patriots in defense of our Constitutional Republic? Surely not again. However, anyone who thinks this prospect is preposterous should put their ear closer to the ground.

Many American Patriots believe, as did Thomas Paine, "If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace."

RUSSIA DIDN'T GET THE "BE NICE NOW " MEMO

Nov 06, 2008 - I guess Russia didn't get the memo that now that Obama was elected, everyone's supposed to be nice to one another. Russia, facing a lame duck president and a president elect whose backbone they doubt, is looking to make moves. This from the NY Post:

Echoing Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who made criticism of Washington and the West a hallmark of his eight-year presidency, Medvedev used his speech in an ornate Kremlin reception hall to cast Russia as a nation threatened by encroaching American military might.Russia's timing on this is not accidental. Putin and Medvedev must figure they have a few months to run roughshod over the west, with Bush's state department on the outs, and Obama's new state department needing time to take shape.This will no doubt be Obama's first foreign policy challenge, perhaps even the one Joe Biden was speaking of. My prediction is that he comes out of the gate with a show of strength, signaling to the world he won't be pushed around. So for the win , did it at least show you that with ALL the media or at least 90% of it - the hundreds and hundreds of millions spent ( that should show a spending trend ) it wasn't "THE BEST WIN EVER".
